One of the fastest growing sectors of the cosmetics business is male grooming. These days, there are more and more companies that are launching skin care line for men. This trend is forecasted to create bigger industry and additional options for men who want to take care of their appearance.

The global market for men’s grooming products is set to move steadily in the next years as there is now a widening acceptance with regard to men’s cosmetic and toiletry products. Media exposure has even helped in expanding this newly flourishing business.

So, are you aching to know what the experts say about good grooming for men? Here are the top 10 tips –

Tip # 1: Forget Not the Virtue of Proper Skin Care

There are steps to skin care and any treatment that is used to better the skin often begins with washing off the dirt and oil off the skin’s surface. Lightly scrub with a cleansing gel, facial foam, cream or soap to dissolve oil and dirt. Rinse thoroughly then wipe your face with a clean face towel, facial tissue or cotton wool.

After removing the deep-seated dirt in your skin, moisten your face with warm water and use an exfoliant particularly the products with micro-beads. Softly massage the exfoliant to your face, making sure to avoid delicate areas such as the skin around your eyes.

Rinse off with lukewarm water. Your skin will surely feel invigorated but do not do this every day or you end up suppressing new skin cell growth.

Steam is also an effective means of taking good care of your skin. This is especially useful for men as they have a rougher skin texture when compared to women. If you have a recurring problem with whiteheads and blackheads, you can begin by placing a basin of boiling water right in front of you. Gently lean over this basin then cover your head with your towel. Stay in this position for five minutes, this should open your pores and you can then better cleanse.

Close your pores by splashing your face with cold water. After this regimen, you can use a facial toner paying extra attention to the T-zone (if you have an oily skin) and the cheeks and forehead (for those with dry skin). Cap your early morning and evening ritual with the application of a moisturizer.

Trimming eyebrows, ear, nose and neck hairs is pretty basic but it can make a world of difference with regard to a man’s looks. Clipping those manly nails is also a must.

Nose hairs can be now be trimmed using nose hair clippers, moderately priced at RM8.99 or so.

Trimming the eyebrows is not just for women anymore. Professional eyebrow trimmers can clean and shape men’s eyebrows which can open up those great looking masculine eyes.

Ear and neck hairs are just disgusting. Let the barber trim these for you monthly. Keep in mind that it is never appealing to see neck hairs touching your shirt collar.

Clipping your nails is one basic rule of hygiene. Long, dirty finger and toenails just won’t garner the admiration of women. A weekly manicure and pedicure should do the trick.

Tip #3: Become Best Friends With Your Dentist

This means you must not forget your oral hygiene. Halitosis (bad breath) and cavities are conditions that people veer away from. Visit your dentist twice each year just as you are required to brush your teeth twice a day. And – PLEASE – do not forget to floss!

It is also up to you if you want to whiten your teeth. Just imagine what those pearly whites can do if you smile towards the direction of a group of girls.

Tip #4: Have Your Clothes Tailor-fitted

Sloppy men never get any kind of attention, just aversion. If your office requires long sleeves, slacks and ties; then follow suit.  Iron your clothes while they are still damp so that you report to work looking crisp and handsome.

Tip #5: Match Your Belt and Shoes

If you have a lot of black shoes, you should learn to let go of your brown belts – they simply won’t match! This is not saying that you need to become a fashion plate but black goes with black is a basic fashion logic that can make you look much better.

Tip #6: Experiment With a Few Accessories

Be bold when you establish a revolutionary look. Stir things up by mixing and matching your accessories such as belts, ties, cufflinks, hats, etc. You will be surprised at the amount of confidence that these stuff can provide for as long as you wear them correctly.

Tip #7: Stand a Little Taller

This goes hand-in-hand with wearing the right clothes. Your mom probably told you how important posture is and, of course, she will always be right.

Tip #8: Squirt a Little Cologne On Your Collar

It is great to smell good but there is also a rule with regard to wearing fragrances- less is more. Everyone in the room does not have to smell you; and fragrance is also a personal preference so find the one that suits your taste.

Tip #9: Say Bye-bye to Wrinkles

No man should say that he does not care about the way he looks. If you want to commit to a cleaner look, it is best if you also include an anti-aging regimen. Talk to your dermatologist and find out which anti aging creams or lotions will make you look a few years younger.

Tip #10: Prevent Balding

One of the biggest turn-offs is when a man starts to lose a head full of hair.  About 40% of men suffer from hair loss by the time they are 35, this is according to a study done by the Yale University School of Medicine.

Ask your dermatologist about Minoxidil and Finasteride. These may take months to work but they are worth the wait. Your hair, after all, is no less than your crowning glory.
